One day everyone will forget who won or lost. But those of us that played. We'll remember that much at least.
Matt Rieger's new play takes an uncompromising look at winning, losing, and living as a handful of characters wrestles with tough and tender memories of the sporting life. Pride, prejudice, aggression, gamesmanship. In A Part of the Game, every field is a maze of delicate lines, every game a gridlock of rules, and everyone strives to do the right thing. Even if it means going out of bounds.
Originally performed as a solo monologue in The Other Side of the Elephant in 2008, A Part of the Game has been expanded and developed as an ensemble piece, receiving its premiere at A House Unbuilt performance space in Ravenswood.
Performed by Brian Collins, Chloe Johnston, Matt Rieger, Beau O'Reilly, John Starrs & Julia Williams • Directed by Matt Rieger • Set Design by Jenny Kim • Lights by Chloe Honeyman-Bloede • Choreography by Jayita Bhattacharya • Video by Jeffrey Bivens & Rodolfo Polanco • Stage Management by Marlana May Carlson
