The Belle of Austin

The Belle of Austin

Written in the style of Emily Dickinson’s letters, this metaphysical solo performance piece imagines the unreciprocated correspondence of cult musician and manic depressive Daniel Johnston to his unrequited love. In this hybrid of two unique but troubled voices, Daniel struggles with his own delusions and isolation through poetry, song, and epistolary writing. Originally performed in the Rhino Fest in 2007.
