Intermission is a surreal comedy. Lights up on an audience watching a play. A bumbling theater critic arrives late and asks fellow audience member Nora—attending the play with her mother—what has happened in the play so far. Nora tries to ignore the theater critic, but she is relentless. She and her mother then have to explain during intermission everything that happened in the first act of the play. There are discrepancies, so they act out the play as both of them remember it. The line between fiction and reality soon blurs.
