Articular Facet

Articular Facet is a Chicago based collective of composers, performers, and sound artists. Along with dancers and artists from various disciplines, the group stages large scale performances, often in unusual settings. Members also collaborate on smaller projects, performances, installations, and broadcast appearances. In July 2014 the group was in residence at the Ragdale Foundation, which culminated in a four hour outdoor performance using over 20 acres of the Foundation grounds.

Articular Facet is presenting three events at Rhinofest 2015.

Wednesday, February 4, 7:00 pm
Bracken by Nic Collins
The Hound by Mark Hardy

Saturday, February 14, 9:00 pm
The Jeff Kowalkowski Trio
The Hound by Mark Hardy

Sunday, February 15, 2:00 pm
Zeitgeist by Articular Facet–exploring multimedia documentation within a non hierarchical collective.

The Hound is based on a story by H. P. Lovecraft, with music composed by Mark Hardy. The sordid tale of a grave robber’s descent into madness is accompanied by music that is deliciously perverse.

Performers:
Hanna Brock, violin
Sid Samberg, viola
William Jason Raynovich, cello
Nora Barton, cello
Sam Bradshaw, bass
Jeff Kowalkowski, keyboard
Ed Herrmann, narrator
Mark Hardy, conductor

Jeff Kowalkowski is a composer, pianist, and educator. His music has been performed throughout the U.S. and Europe. His trio features bassist Harrison Bankhead and drummer and percussionist Avreeayl Ra.

Bracken was composed by Nic Collins and uses a computer to randomly generate and project a live score that directs the players how to interact with each other. Performers:
