Synopsis

Now in our 25th year, Curious presents its fall production for 2012: Evanston, Which Is Over There: A Tale of Men and Women in the Modern World by Beau O'Reilly.

The two-act comedy takes place in the wilds of Chicago's Rogers Park—its beaches, coffee shops and non-working elevator buildings. Henry Moore, a sometime writer, is passing out and falling in love all over the place, and his sometime friends who can't abide each other—BB, a once-remarkable star of the local stage who now prefers martinis and solid decision making, and Hank, a rhythmically challenged ukulele player—are concerned. Various remedies are tried—Jug Band music, miniature golf, meditation—but nothing seems to be working. His neighborhood, which includes his compulsive counting step-daughter, a Buddhist runner with a penchant for spouting Sufi poems, and a disgraced psychotic cop determined to catch someone for something, surrounds him with life and disappointment.
